Match Game Day

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona hosted its third Match Game Day on April 15th, 2023. Match Game Day allows matches (Bigs and Littles) the opportunity to meet and socialize with other matches and to hang out at the BBBSAZ office. Our staff happily welcomed 21 matches to the Match Game Day, where there was a variety of food, snacks, and water for matches to choose from. Throughout the two hours of the Match Game Day, our staff raffled off various prizes including gift cards, BBBS t-shirts, and other fun prizes. On Match Game Day, matches can also meet with their individual Program Specialist, to say hello, and update any needed paperwork.

A number of activities were led by BBBS staff on Match Game Day. The arts and crafts station included blank canvas boards with various paint colors and paint brushes. This station allowed matches to personalize their canvas boards and express their creativity. The TikTok station included a bright and colorful TikTok frame where matches could have their picture taken. This station also had a table game where matches could win more prizes. Various sports were played outside by matches in the Devin Booker Pavilion. Matches also had access to different sporting equipment, including soccer balls, basketballs, and a corn hole toss. Matches had a great time enjoying the outdoor organized activities also led by BBBS staff. The outdoor activities included soccer, dodgeball, and a water balloon toss competition. There was also a trivia station that included several different questions from multiple-choice and true-or-false questions that were asked by BBBS staff. Some of the trivia questions included categories about food, animals, and geography. One of the questions from the food category was, “What is the most popular pizza topping in the USA?”

Little Eyleen and Big Maria

Tic-tac-toe, Connect 4, and a guessing game called HedBanz were some of the more popular board games played by matches. Another popular area among matches to chat and meet with others was the pool table area. Some matches even took a brief break from reality by playing video games at the VR station. Matches had a great time rotating between the outdoor and indoor activities provided at Match Game Day.
