Big Night Out A Red Carpet Affair Recap

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona held their annual Big Night Out gala on Friday, March 3, 2023, at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. Guests arrived and were treated to complimentary valet provided by Strunk Insurance Group. They got to make their red carpet debuts and were photographed by BBBSAZ’s very own paparazzi. The cocktail reception, hosted by StateServ Medical, was buzzing with excitement. Attendees received complimentary beverages and tray-passed appetizers and were able to purchase mystery boxes that included amazing prizes. Guests were dressed to the nines in their red, white, and black cocktail attire. Photos from the event will be posted soon so keep an eye on our social media: FacebookInstagram

Event chairs Chris and Nicki Roode and Trevor and Chelsea Martin kicked off the program by welcoming guests and introducing Emcee, Weather Anchor & Community Ambassador for Arizona’s Family, Paul Horton. Paul thanked all of our sponsors, including our Presenting Sponsor The Rowley Family Foundation. He then introduced Match Elliana and Kirsten. Elliana (Little) and Kirsten (Big) read an amazing poem that they had written about their match. Paul then encouraged anyone who may be interested in becoming a Big themselves to sign up for one of our volunteer information sessions. A delicious dinner was served before President & CEO Laura addressed the crowd with a state of the agency address. Another Little Brother, Sam, read an incredibly touching poem he wrote about his Big, and how he had changed his life for the better, forever. Auctiontainer Letitia Frye then took the stage for the live auction and call to action. The room was electric, and many attendees gave in support of BBBSAZ! A final Little Brother, Isaiah, took to the stage to read a letter addressed to his Bigs, Jodi, and Tony, expressing how thankful he is to have them in his life. BBBSAZ Board Chair, Mike Suriano introduced our Bigs of the Year, who were able to say a few words about how their match through BBBSAZ has changed their lives. Finally, the Phoenix Suns’ very own Cam Payne addressed the crowd, encouraging them to become mentors. You can watch that video here!

Guests 21 and older were invited to stay for the After Party hosted by BEST Dispensary. They were treated to desserts, and a live DJ and many guests received goodie bags provided by BEST Dispensary. Guests could play Plinko for awesome prizes, including an autographed jersey and basketball donated by the Phoenix Suns.  Drop Top Entertainment provided 2 fun photo booths that guests got to enjoy! In total, more than $440,000 was raised at the Big Night Out! Funds received will be used to provide mentors for children in our community. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors and event attendees who made this event such a BIG success! We look forward to seeing you all again in 2024!
