Spotlight on some of our 2020 Graduating Seniors

May was a special month for BBBSAZ as 59 of our “Littles” graduated High School. We are grateful to their Bigs who helped guide them through their education and helped them set goals for their futures. Below we’ve highlighted a few of these match relationships.

Zaida & Hannah
Little Sister Zaida and Big Sister Hannah have a wonderful relationship. Some of their favorite memories include going to Tempe Marketplace to try new food, doing Goat Yoga together, and volunteering. Hannah has been a big help to Zaida in scholarship research, helping her get her learner’s permit, and working with her on post-high school plans. Zaida will be attending Northern Arizona University in the Fall and is the winner of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona’s Scholarship for 2020.

Brandy & Sarah
Little Sister Brandy and Big Sister Sarah are so connected they even got matching tattoos! They recently worked closely together on Brandy’s senior project of helping youth in her community. Sarah has been a great support system for her Brandy, especially with her post-high school plans. Brandy will be attending an in-state university (Northern Arizona University or Arizona State University) and will pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.

Tyler & Michael
Little Brother Tyler and Big Brother Michael have an amazing relationship. Some of the memories they have shared are exploring the outdoors and climbing mountains along with working to overcome challenges. Michael has always been there for his Little Brother and plans to continue doing so. Tyler plans to attend a community college and study something in the realm of audio and visual arts.

Ashley & Mary
Little Sister Ashley and Big Sister Mary have made a lot of fun memories together. Some of their favorites have been celebrating holidays and going to the taco festival together. Mary has been an incredible support system and friend to Ashley. Big Sister Mary made sure to still see Ashley despite the pandemic and visit her during her work breaks. Ashley has worked hard in her part-time job and in being part of the ACE Program. She plans on going to college and utilizing her great artistic skills.
