BBBSAZ Littles Benefit from Partnership with GCU

On October 24th, Grand Canyon University presented Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona with a $5,000 check at the 12th annual Paul’s Car Wash fundraiser event. Over the past several years, GCU night at Paul’s Car Wash has grown to become one of the biggest evenings of the five-day event with the participation of the men and women’s basketball teams, cheer team, and the Thundering Herd Pep Band. Dozens of students came out to represent the university and help by washing cars, directing traffic, and building excitement for the event.

But GCU’s support for BBBSAZ goes well beyond their participation at Paul’s Car Wash. For the past several years, GCU has opened its campus for Littles to tour, donated tickets to theater performances and sporting events for Matches to enjoy, and even hosted a Big for a Day event for waitlist Littles at their famous Thunder Alley. Just this past month, Matches were invited to attend the GCU basketball game against Eastern Illinois. Bigs and Littles were treated to free tickets and a pre-game pizza party.

Always focused on providing access to education for all, Grand Canyon University even provides a 10% tuition scholarship for Bigs through their Alliance Program. Interested Bigs and graduating Littles can visit gcu.edu for more information about degree programs and let the GCU counselor know that BBBS is a CEP Organization alliance participant.

After years of partnership, Grand Canyon University has built a reputation of being truly committed to the shared vision of helping all youth achieve their potential and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona is delighted to carry this partnership into this and future years.
