Big Brother Toru Receives Community Quarterback Award

Mentoring Kids Phoenix

Big Brother Toru Kawana received the Arizona Cardinals Charities Community Quarterback Award in recognition of his service to the community. Toru, who has been a Big Brother to Javier for eight years, received the 2016 BBBSAZ Big Brother of the Year award and the Arizona Big of the Year award from Big Brothers Big Sisters. As a City of Scottsdale firefighter, Toru demonstrates his commitment to the community daily by helping those in need and saving lives. Not only is he dedicated to helping his fellow Arizonans, but he also returned to his homeland, Japan, for a few months to help in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Congratulations, Toru!
