Volunteering to help Phoenix area youth is fun, big time.
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling volunteer experiences in Phoenix, AZ. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy them even more with your Little—and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.
Community-based mentors meet up with a child in their community two times per month to do things you both enjoy on days and times that are convenient for your schedule. Couples and families are invited to mentor a child together in this program, as well.
Site-based mentors meet with their Little Brother or Little Sister at a nearby elementary school for about 45 minutes per week (or at least twice a month) during the child’s lunch break. Youth and mentors spend time playing games, working on homework or hanging out on the playground together. Currently, we offer site-based programs at the following schools: Balsz Elementary (Phoenix), Maie Bartlett Heard School (Phoenix), Longview Elementary (Phoenix), Lowell School (Phoenix), Pueblo Elementary (Scottsdale), San Marcos Elementary (Chandler) and Paiute Mentoring Program (Scottsdale).
